Sorry I haven’t written in a while. So there ARE people reading this thing? Sometimes I never really know.But I have received several inquires to start writing already. But I have been busy. For one thing I have been slammed at work. Had to travel a lot to Nairobi this month for one thing. Got to stay in some NICE hotels plus I have an ever increasing number of projects. Also, when I’m not working and not occupied by some small children, there is the house. As you know we have just moved (well it’s been a couple of months now) into this other house and we are still settling in. I am taking every opportunity to hammer, saw and nail things around here. We think we have resolved, at least for the moment, the horrible plumbing issue. And the yard is starting to come together too.
We have from 1-4 guys at any one time helping out in the yard. And since its rainy season here we have to work fast to take advantage. But things are starting to grow, I’ll send up some pictures soon.
I don’t know if you remember but I wrote a bit about a short documentary film I was doing on a woman’s’ AIDS support group?? Well, I had to put it away, for almost a year! Now I am trying to finish it before the guy who runs the project leaves this summer.
A few weeks ago Kayla and the kids drove to the Mara with our neighbors Danny and Mary and their kids. I didn’t go. I had a blissful four days of working uninterrupted around the house; got a lot done too! Danny and Mary camped in a tent in the Masaai Mara. Kayla wanted to camp too. I was way too afraid to agree to that. They stayed in a hotel very near the camp site. I donno, maybe it’s just me but I don’t think camping in an area where little kids are consider finger food for the wild beasties that roam around is very fun. I mean, a place were you have to hire a Masaai to stand guard, all night, with a big gun and keep an enormous fire going all night is probably not that entertaining! They saw many unique events while on safari though. Two different Cheetah’s hunt and kill is highly unusual. They saw Rhinos. They are very hard to get a glimpse of too. Kayla says she was apprehensive about camping in the Mara but after she saw the camp site she thinks it’s pretty safe. Yea, right. She has booked the camp grounds there for us in October! It will take a lot for me to be convinced. I suppose I’ll just sleep in the car, with the kids!
We just found out that we have to replace the entire back deck in our Atlanta house. Apparently it was constructed with untreated wood!!! $$$$$$$$$$$$ estimates are coming in now but it will not be cheap.
